About the Museum history
On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of branch of Moscow power engineering Institute in Smolensk in 2011, the idea of creating a Museum of history. Was allocated a separate room, and the concept of the future Museum, created the Museum Board. Began the long hard work on the collection and verification of archival documents, the search of photographs, illustrating the glorious history of the first in the Smolensk region technical College. A great contribution to the restoration of historical paintings of the events made the oldest teachers and the staff of the branch Naidenov, V. A., Zaitseva L. P., Starodub S. P., Averchenkov O. E., Boyarinov G. I. Senyuhin Yu. N., Karasev, D. D., and many others.
September 18, 2013 was held ceremonial opening of the Museum, which was attended by the rector of MPEI Grechikhin V. A., and also known in the city and area graduates of the branch, veterans of labor, SHMEI and students.
The Museum exposition is located in part of the reading room, equipped as an exhibition hall. Displays of the Museum tell about the milestones of the history of the branch, the emergence and development departments, sports and social life of the Institute. The exhibition presents original documents and photos, personal belongings of teachers, albums, reflect the history of the University since inception in 1961 to the present day.
The activities of the Museum aims to preserve historical and cultural heritage accumulated by the school for more than half a century. The acquisition is made in connection with the thematic focus of the exposition. The priority is the collection of those who stood at the origins of the branch who built and developed it, train and educate engineers who have received here a profession and a start in life.
