The first Spring ball - 2013
The initiative of holding a stylized dance parties in the MPEI branch in Smolensk was made in 2012, the Council of elders. The first Spring ball in the style of the XIX century took place on 25 April 2013.
Active preparations for the event was hardly the beginning of the second semester. Throughout the Institute there were ads, are invited to participate in the organization and carrying out of Spring ball everyone, which for six weeks was taught to dance the Polonaise, waltz and others almost forgotten, but once favorite hot in the ballroom dances.
Thanks to our friends and colleagues from the Department of social and educational work of MEI, first of all – Yana Vladimirovna Ivanova, delegation of the students got acquainted with the practice of holding balls in MEI.
The experience of colleagues from the Council of elders MEI was useful, but the students of Smolensk branch approached the preparation of the event creative and original.
In the preparation of the First ball of the Smolensk branch of Moscow power engineering Institute played a major role:
Borisova Natalia (БА1-10)
Lapin Anton (БА1-10)
The Mikhalchenkov Eugene (ПЭ1-11)
Stepchenkova Catherine (БА1-10)
Fedulov Jaroslav (graduate student)
They acted as mentors for the staging of the dance and prepared and led all who came to the ball a lot of interesting contests, which, incidentally, is also not allowed to sit still. For example, participants are paired with invited guests were fighting in the dance competition for the right to receive the prize in one of the proposed categories.
Leading - N. Borisova, A. Lapin, E. Stepchenkova
A special contribution to the implementation of the scenario of the ball made Andrei V. Gorelov, head of the vocal Studio "Energy.ru".
So preparations were in full swing, rehearsals were conducted more often, bringing participants a lot of fun, the excitement grew. And finally, the long-awaited day when the doors of energy experts has opened to the public the first Spring ball!
"So many beautiful people in the Institute, probably, was not even once!" - heard of the matter from all sides. All the girls, observing a predetermined dress code, appeared in luxurious evening dresses "in a floor" from ballroom on the rings that hold their shape even in the crazy whirling of a waltz to flying chiffon. Gallant appeared in tuxedos and suits.
The first ball of branch MEI, output
According to tradition, the first dance, opened the ball was the Polonaise. For me personally, a man far removed from ballroom dancing, it was absolutely incredible, as so many pairs were able to learn in a short period the movements of the dance and move without missing a step and without interfering with each other, creating a beautiful pattern. They seemed to glide down the hall under the stunning Opera song "Hijo de la luna". Another staged dance was a slow waltz, to the middle of which a few pairs of guests decided to join the participants of the ball.
At first the guests were too shy to participate in dance, because now very few people knows how to dance, for example, the Mazurka. But gradually infected the atmosphere of the ball and constantly preobrajenie participants and organisers, no one was sitting on the ground. Throughout the evening guests were taught to dance traditional ballroom dances such as the polka-Troika and mysterious dance with the unpronounceable name that the remember was as hard as to pronounce. By the end of the dance now and everyone danced with everyone changing partners in the continuation of the dance, fast and lively melodies gave way to more relaxed, giving the opportunity to breathe a bit. And what was the "musical interlude" in the dance program! In the best traditions of the salon evenings of the 1 century sounded wonderful romances piano accompaniment (accompanist – Director of the ensemble "Entrgy.ru" A. V. Gorelov) and guitar, which he played the leader of the Council of elders M. Novikov.

When I finished the last notes of the final dance, the guests left the evening with obvious regret, wanting to dance again...
And, I'll tell you a secret, it will definitely happen! The participants and the organizers during the training so fell in love with ballroom dancing, inspired by the atmosphere of the previous evening and rave reviews of the guests are already planning a new ball this fall. Of course it will be different from the last Spring fling, bringing a surprise to their guests. Want to know what it is? Visit us to learn!
